Where Strategy Meets Connection
At Misty Serene Consulting, I help mission-driven organizations grow with clarity, confidence, and purpose.
With a background in nonprofit leadership, including arts and culture, early childhood development, mental health, and addiction treatment, I bring a human-centered approach to strategy, sustainability, and leadership development. Whether you’re a nonprofit navigating change, a school rethinking its culture, or a community organization striving to expand access—I’m here to help you align your mission with meaningful, measurable action.
I work with executive leaders, boards, and teams to:
Build strategic plans grounded in real-world goals and community impact
Strengthen leadership at every level, cultivating a culture where everyone leads
Train and coach nonprofit professionals in fundraising, organizational growth, and effective decision-making
Develop healthy, sustainable work environments that prevent burnout and support long-term success
Improve systems, expand access, and increase long-term sustainability across mission-driven organizations
Navigate capital campaigns, board development, and community engagement with clarity and confidence
Innovate new practices that align with organizational values and inspire meaningful change
Whether we’re mapping out a multi-year strategic plan or sitting down for a one-on-one leadership coaching session, my work is always rooted in connection. Because organizations don’t thrive on spreadsheets alone—they thrive on relationships, vision, and people who believe in what they do.
About Me
“My work is rooted in purpose. I’m inspired every day by organizations striving to make the world a better place.”
I’m the Executive Director of the Salina Art Center, a nationally accredited contemporary art and education institution in Salina, Kansas. Since stepping into this role, I’ve led the organization through a period of transformative growth—spearheading a successful $1.4 million capital campaign, expanding inclusive youth programming, and deepening our curatorial impact through a forward-thinking guest curator model. Under my leadership, the Art Center has seen significant increases in membership, artist residencies, and regional partnerships—positioning us as a creative and civic hub in the Mountain Plains region.
I hold a degree in Public Administration with an emphasis in nonprofit organizations, along with professional certifications in fundraising and philanthropy. My academic and professional background inform a strategic, mission-driven approach to leadership that’s grounded in community impact and financial sustainability.
With experience across a range of causes—including early childhood development, mental health, and addiction treatment—I bring a deeply human-centered lens to organizational strategy. I’ve trained educators and administrators on building developmentally sound, emotionally supportive learning environments, and worked with treatment centers and behavioral health nonprofits to expand access, improve sustainability, and strengthen leadership pipelines.
I believe that healthy organizations start with healthy culture—where everyone leads, values are lived daily, and relationships drive results. Whether I’m guiding a cultural institution or advising a nonprofit team, I focus on creating environments where people feel seen, supported, and empowered to make lasting change.
Beyond my work in the arts, I’m a passionate advocate for working mothers and inclusive workplace policies. I frequently speak on nonprofit strategy, leadership, and the intersection of caregiving and professional ambition.
